CloudWatch Synthetics Multilocation Canaries Simplify Global Monitoring

Amazon CloudWatch Synthetics now supports running canaries across multiple AWS Regions from a single configuration. Previously, you had to set up and manage separate canaries in each region to monitor application availability globally. Now, you define a canary in a primary region, and CloudWatch Synthetics automatically replicates it to other selected regions. All metrics and artifacts are consolidated in the primary region.

This feature significantly reduces the operational overhead of maintaining global monitoring. Engineers can now ensure consistent user experiences worldwide, pinpoint region-specific performance issues, and validate external dependencies from a unified console. The ability to configure alarms that trigger only when multiple locations report issues also promises to reduce alert fatigue and focus attention on genuine customer-impacting problems.
